Background: 

Previously part of the nobility during the monarch government ruling of the Kingdom of Vale in medieval times, the Scalotta kept their status high and unchanged in face of the passage of time. In a world now more concerned with the content of one’s pockets than their veins, the House has had a history of seemly everlasting greatness…one which was maintained through a series of diverse methods. Some more questionable than others…

 Nowadays, the House of Scalotta is publicly known as a prestigious family involved in several profiting business with members present in every kingdom, but there are more to them than meets the eye.

What presents itself as a family of powerful magnates is in fact a cross-kingdom organization pulling the strings in the background, manipulating economy and politics to their design. Back in the day, the Scalotta’s goal was to guide the Kingdom of Vale to prosperity from the shadows. They did so as the King’s councilmen, merchants and even as part of the Kingdom’s military power. Now, with the bonds between the four kingdoms being stronger than ever, they extend their “helping hand” to the other three Kingdoms.

Rosso comes from the assassin share of the family, being responsible for taking out of the way people who interfered with the Scalotta’s plans. Growing up, he was secretly trained in his family’s Fencing style, showing remark able talent with the blade. He was not like the other children who played with dolls or cars. His grooming into the way of the assassination begun early, and he soon realized he was different from the other children. 

At the age of 14 Rosso was formally introduced to the “family business”, and his father’s occupation was revealed. Rosso was clever enough something was amiss for quite some time now, and learning what great mystery surrounded his father and family made him very happy. His real training begun from there, with his own father as one of his instructors. 

Rosso planned to do his father, and family, proud and took joy in his strict training. But that joy would not last as his father’s life met a sudden end during a failed mission. The details were scarce due the nature of their activities and Rosso’s youth kept him from much information within the family. He was told the minimum necessary, but that was enough to spark the flame of revenge within his heart. That desire was what now fueled him as he trained under the tutelage of his father’s best friend. He sworn to find the responsible for his father’s death and kill them himself. 

Alas, his desire for revenge was not something his main instructor approved, and in his 16^th birthday, Rosso found out why. During one of the few weekends off from his training and studies, Rosso’s instructor took him away from any prying ears and revealed to him a truth that would hurt as much as his father’s death. According to his instructor, his father was eliminated by his very family, after refusing to take someone’s life. His own instructor was indignant at the notion, but kept his feelings in check for Rosso’s sake. He took Rosso as his student to keep him safe but planned to retire as soon as Rosso’s training was complete.

When the day came Rosso had no longer what to learn from his instructor, he left for Vacuo’s Huntsmen Academy, where he’d further hone his skills as he collected information about his father’s murder. His objective remained unchanged. He would find his father’s killer, and they would meet their end by his hand.

Personality:

Despite having a blade in hand since he can remember, Rosso claims to have the heart of a lover, not a fighter. He is flirtatious, suave and chivalrous. He at least attempts to charm anyone that grabs his attention, with mixed results. But flirting is more than a hobby to him, as he uses his charm in his advantage, sweet-talking his way towards his ultimate objectives.

Living with his instructor for the last few years, Rosso picked up more than just fencing techniques. The man was known for being a hedonist, and their line of work provided for the fine pleasures he sought. Rosso has a fondness for the finest things in life, enjoying good food, good wine, and more importantly, good company. His expensive taste may cause him to come across as a snob but he usually wins people over with his charisma.

Semblance: “Glamour”

Rosso’s Semblance is called “Glamour” and allows him to cause an effect very similar to love when making eye-contact with his victim. When active, Rosso’s eyes turn a bright shade of magenta, naturally grabbing people’s attention. From there, the target begins to experience a strong infatuation for Rosso that grows as their eyes keep locked. In a fighter, the charmed individual will cease hostility towards Rosso and even turn against their allies if so asked.

There are several ways to break the spell, however. First and mainly: pain. Being successfully struck with enough force will cease the Glamour’s spell. No matter if my Rosso or someone else, moderate pain will cease the effect. Rosso can  keep several people under his spell at a time, but the intensity and amount of victims reflect the Aura consumed to create it. Finally, an affected victim will not perform preposterous actions in their perspective, such as jumping of a building, or killing(if they are averse to kill). His semblance also doesn’t work on Grimm in the same way. Grimm cannot feel love, and his semblance will Provoke a creature of Grimm into attacking him and only him.

Rosso has problems handling his semblance and he cannot turn it off on his left eye, which constantly charms those who gaze into it. Because of that, he wears an special eye-patch that blocks his semblance and partially, his vision.

Fighting Style:

Being under training for most of his life, Rosso is a superb fighter. He was trained in his family’s trademark fencing technique “Ago di Scalotta”, which involves the wielding of a Rapier and a Dagger. His weapons are named Pride and Fall, a Drill Rapier and a Dust Dagger, respectively. Pride is used to pierce and break through armored enemies, drilling a whole in their defenses and making way for Fall, which is used for decisive blows. Aside of the usual blocking and stabbing, the dagger also has a Dust cylinder with different types of dust used for elemental attacks and advanced Dust Manipulation.

Rosso’s performance falls as the number of enemies increase, but in a duel he is unmatched. His approach being based on baiting an attack from his foes, deflecting or avoiding it, then punishing them with specially aimed attacks.
